TEACHING.

I teach courses in performance theory and criticism, devising original work, media and performance, dramatic literature, and practice-as-research at the University at Buffalo, where I'm an associate professor.

RESEARCH.

My 2021 book, Playing Real:  Mimesis, Media, and Mischief  concerns the performance of authenticity and realness in mediatized contexts, and includes sites as varied as live broadcast theatre, reality television, and alternate reality gaming.

My more recent work focuses on AI and deepfakes, and on consent practices inside the university.

PERFORMANCE.

As a performer, I work with the New York Neo-Futurists, where I was a founding member of the ensemble, and at theatres in and around Buffalo, where I live. My past artistic homes include Annex Theatre, in Seattle, and iO West (formerly of Los Angeles).  I'm currently devising new work that brings Brecht's street scene to bear on the dilemmas of autonomous driving.
